Hejlsminde Beach

Idyllic place, framed by the Baltic Sea and Lake Hejls Nor. Not far from Christiansfeld. Nice beach, nice walking and hiking opportunities.

We spent very nice and quiet / relaxed vacation days in Hejlsminde. From here there are many opportunities to explore the picturesque Danish Baltic coast.

The small town Hejlsminde is located on the Little Belt. There were times when Hejlsminde was an important port. Ships full of wheat sailed from there to England. And there were times when Hejlsminde was right on the border between Prussia and Denmark. The river that marked this border still flows towards the Baltic Sea. Apart from that, not too much reminds of these times, aside from the Prussian Customs Office, built in 1906, and a landmark, the first of a total of 128 between the North and Baltic Seas.
