The old Ibla was largely destroyed in the heavy earthquake in 1693. Many residents did not want to move to the new upper town of Ragusa and rebuilt their homes. The result was an atmospheric Baroque town on medieval narrow streets, which are usually quiet, inviting you to roam. It is only revived on the eastern slope between the cathedral and the city garden Giardini Iblei.

This pretty little town with many UNESCO World Heritage listed buildings should be viewed. It can also leisurely stroll through the virtually traffic-free streets and watch, watch and watch again.
