It was built at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. The initiator of the construction was the Kraków ensign and a soldier of the Hussar banner, Andrzej from Żydowo Żydowski.
The aim of his undertaking was largely to combat Calvinism, which was popular in this area.
The church was consecrated on October 4, 1714 by Kazimierz Łubieński, the bishop of Kraków. Both the monastery and the church are built in a style close to the Baroque.
In front of the church there is a square with the Stations of the Cross. On the eastern side of the presbytery, the chapel of St. Dydak, which is connected by a corridor with the Chapel of the Transfiguration. St. Dydaka was added in 1901. Inside it, there are frescoes depicting Saint Francis, who receives the grace of a plenary indulgence, popularly known as the portion of the round indulgence. This chapel is a special place, because every year the faithful from Kęty and the surrounding area come to it to obtain an indulgence.
