The Rotenburger Heimathaus is a Low German hall house from the year 1779. Originally moved from the town of Bellen (district of Rotenburg) to the former castle site in Rotenburg, it served as a local museum until 2010 and was transferred to the city of Rotenburg after the dissolution of the Heimatbund. For years citizens from Rotenburg and the surrounding area have been handing over valuable objects from their homes, farms and workshops to their home town, thus laying the foundations for the collection of historical goods, which today comprises over 3000 objects.

Founded in 2011, the Volunteer Collection Collection of Historic Goods has inventoried and digitized these objects to present them to the public through exhibitions.
