Originally the Krückau was dammed in trenches so that three smaller islands were formed on which a castle complex was built. Today's lake was created later, at the beginning of the 20th century.
Several information boards provide information about the history of the island and the castle, although only a mansion from 1806 stands in its place.
A highlight is the former gatehouse at the entrance to the island. There is now a cafe called "Castle Prison".
Unfortunately it was closed, but the outward appearance was very romantic.
There are two benches right on the lakeshore, from which you can enjoy the view of the lake.
