The Singold is a river about 51 kilometers long in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia, which flows into the factory canal in the Augsburg district of Göggingen. Historically, the Singold played an important role in the industrialization of Göggingen. Several hydroelectric power stations were built on its banks, which supplied energy for local factories. A notable example is the power station of the Göggingen yarn and sewing thread factory, which went into operation in 1887 and still generates electricity from hydropower today.

The Singold has small natural rapids in Göggingen. However, artificial weirs and turbine houses were built to use the hydropower efficiently. These technical facilities shape the river's appearance and bear witness to the region's industrial past. The area along the Singold today offers attractive opportunities for walks and nature observation, with the historic buildings providing interesting insights into the history of water use in Augsburg.
