Not far from here begins the Uhlstädter Heide, an extensive nature reserve. After 500 meters you will reach the Saalleiten hut, keep left on a meadow path and enjoy the bright spots in the Saale valley. In spring the ground is covered with cowslips and violets. In the forest, the forester leaves the storm and snow break free. There is a lot of deadwood colonized by mosses, mushrooms and beetles. Since 2015, the beaver also helps. Many beech trees have the typical feeding traces.
