The foundation stone was laid on August 9, 1899, and the building was inaugurated on September 25, 1900. The interior design of the building lasted until 1909.
The Soviet occupation troops took over the building in 1945 and released it again in October 1948.
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the town hall was extensively renovated from 1991 to 1996. It is still used today as the town hall of the large district town of Radebeul.
