Named after the famous 19th-century Risnjak botanist and alpinist, Josip Schlosser, the Schlosser hut is located to the south of Veliki Risnjak's summit slopes. Constructed on a beautiful meadow, it's considered one of the most picturesque mountain huts in the country. As well as Veliki Risnjak, Snježnik is another popular peak to hike from here and takes around two hours to reach. The hut is open from May to November.

Hiking

The mountain lodge is named after Dr. Josip Schlosser Klekovski, the first president of the Croatian Mountaineering Society and the founder of Croatian botany. It was built in 1932, on the saddle between the peaks of Veliki and southern Mali Risnjak at a height of 1418 m.
The home is managed by Risnjak National Park. After a hiatus, it reopened in June 2021 and offers food and drinks, and will be open until November 30, 2021.
