      Hueth Castle
From 1361 onwards, the knight Rutger van Hekeren built the higher-lying Hueth Castle onto what was then the Rhine dike; It served as a refuge for residents in the surrounding area during dike breaches and floods. In the second half of the 17th century, the well-fortified Hueth moated castle was converted into a representative castle. In the 18th century the castle became the property of the Prussian noble family von Borckes. The young count attached great importance to a baroque redesign of the castle and built an observatory, a natural history cabinet for natural history research and a drawing school for craftsmen. The von Borkes family maintained direct and friendly relations with the court of Frederick the Great. The left outer bailey was repaired and expanded as the apartment of the current owner, Friedrich Freiherr von Wittenhorst-Sonsfeld, while the right outer bailey, which was more severely damaged, is still a ruin.

First of all, the approach is particularly beautiful - over and between dikes. The owners are friendly people and allow you to enter and take photos in the front area. You can rent holiday accommodation there. The private area at the back is excluded.
