Gisinger Schindwasen, pig fattening and soccer field

The Middle High German word "wase" means meadow in today's parlance. Here, far away from the village and its drinking water catchment area, the dead cattle used to be buried by the Wasenmeister or Schinder. After 1860 until the Second World War, the Gisinger swineherd led the pigs of the village through the Oberlimberger Weg (which was only turned into a road in 1952) to these tubs "Nashuf", "Irzkaul" and to today's golf course, where they wallowed and their favorite food was acorns and beechnuts found in the surrounding forests.
