One of the windmills that were used to fill the salt basins in order to extract the salt.

El Molino de Quintín is located in the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar, on Paseo Marítimo that borders the ponds of the Las Salinas Regional Park, a place internationally known for its "mud baths".

It is in good condition making it easy to imagine what these mills must have been like built near salt flats and used to grind salt and bring water to swimming pools.

The Molino de Quintín follows the general scheme of this type of construction. It has a trunk-conical body, covered with lime mortar and sand, which is almost completely intact except for some minor damage. The spire that covered it and the wooden structure of the blades.

It has a series of windows, with wooden shutter in blue, at the front the entrance door to the machines, also in blue wood, and the wooden water wheels on both sides.

The mills generally consist of a series of wooden and iron gears that transmit the energy generated by the sails, moved by the wind, until the stones can be moved, which in the case of the salt mills is used to crush the salt or to lift the water from the Mar Menor to the evaporation pools.

This mill of Quintín has all these parts, a mechanism that attracts the attention of many walkers. The introduction of modern systems, in the work of salt treatment, caused these ancient systems to be abandoned and remain today only as a tourist attraction.

Making the way to reach this mill is a magnificent and rewarding experience.
