The "Dhünn plateau" around the Great Dhünn Dam and the Eifgen Valley is widely known for its impressive and varied landscape in the midst of beautiful nature: characterized by a varied topography, large forest areas and open meadows, crossed by the Dhünn and Eifgen with their numerous tributaries, the Dhünn plateau is a highly attractive living, recreational and natural area. Together with the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and the Wupperverband, the surrounding municipalities of Burscheid, Kürten, Odenthal and Wermelskirchen have developed a project that highlights the special features of the landscape and the importance of the largest drinking water dam in western Germany.

The overflow forms a small waterfall. From here you have a pretty clear view of the water surface.

View from the dam wall of the Kleine Dhünntalsperre. On this side you have the different shore areas with breeding islands and on the other side you can see the overflow, over which the water bubbles from the forebay into the main basin.
