  • Here, visitors can visit the birthplace of the Italian polymath Leonardo da Vinci (1452 to 1519). Throughout his life, he devoted himself to various arts (especially painting, sculpture, and architecture) as well as scientific research (such as anatomy), and was an inventor and engineer. His burial site, however, is located in Amboise (Ile-de-France), France. The assumption that he was buried there in the Hubertus Chapel (if interested, see komoot.com/de-de/highlight/958658 ) is not scientifically proven, but neither is it implausible, as da Vinci spent his final years in the neighboring Château de Le Clos Lucé, where he had been invited by the French king, and died there on May 2, 1519.
