The Sassolungo with its 3181 m high summit was first climbed in 1869 by Paul Grohmann.

Together with the Sassopiatto, the Sassolungo is a popular hiking destination in the summer months.

Sassolungo and Sassopiatto can be walked around in about 5.5 hours and offers beautiful panoramic views of the mighty Sella massif, the Marmolada and the Alpe di Siusi.
