Towpath Along the Dender

Strange that this towpath along the Dender was not yet designated as a highlight in Komoot. This is (at least in my opinion...) one of the most beautiful bicycle lanes in the world. Highly recommended, really beautiful.

This beautiful stretch of towpath runs along the Gemene Meers nature reserve. The nature reserve is a beautiful piece of nature in the Flemish Ardennes, on the territory of Geraardsbergen. It is an open area of 17 hectares of lake land with valley forests, willow thickets, swampy parts and some poplar plantations. The area is rich in bird species, especially waterfowl and waders, which settle during the winter floods. You can visit the area freely on the trails, or book a guided walk with an experienced guide. The nature reserve is managed by Natuurpunt Boven-Dender, which has also recognized it as a nature reserve. It is definitely recommended for nature lovers.
