Hirtshals Harbour was built between 1919 and 1931 under the direction of the engineer Jørgen Fibiger and expanded in 1966. The harbour provides the basic conditions for the important industries of fishing, transport and fish processing and is today one of Denmark's largest fishing ports. It is a busy place all year round. Part of the harbour is not open to the public, but you can drive through large parts of the harbour or explore them on foot or by bike and watch the boats landing their fish.
