Super great all-round view of Belchen, Feldberg, Hochblauen and, in good weather, the Alps

Beautiful observation tower - also from the inside 🙂 In the past, building was not only functional but also always a bit for the look 👍

The "Hohe-Möhr-Turm" (now a listed building) built by the Black Forest Association (local group Schopfheim) celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1994. The ascent of the 30m high tower takes place inside via 54 stone and 87 wooden steps. The total construction costs in 1894 amounted to 7,825 gold marks.

After an urgent repair in 1921, the upper wooden part burned down in 1922 due to a lightning strike. With the help of the surrounding communities and many private donors, the tower was repaired and could be climbed again on May 11, 1924. In 1950 the mantle of 25,000 shingles was renewed and in 1953 ten iron bands were attached to stabilize the tower. The weight of the rings was 1,650 kg. In 1963 the woodwork was given a new protective coat of paint and in 1972 the tower roof had to be completely renewed. The stability of the tower posed a major challenge for the local group of the Black Forest Association in Schopfheim. Punctually on May 1, 1983, the 100th anniversary of the local group, the work was completed and the tower could be reopened. Another necessary renovation took place in 2004. When you reach its viewing platform, the tower offers a unique panoramic view at a height of over 1000m. In the immediate vicinity, the views range from the Wiesental, Rheintal and Wehratal valleys to the Hotzenwald and the Black Forest mountains. With good visibility you can see the panorama of the Vorgesen, the Swiss Jura and the chain of Alps.
