A sympathetic detail: Every Sunday from May to September, the Black Forest Club sends a "tower guard" to the Hohe Möhr Tower, which not only ignites the campfire, but also pampers hikers and mountain bikers with cakes and drinks.

The “Hohe Möhr Tower” built by the Black Forest Association (Schopfheim local group) (now a listed building) celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1994. The 30m high tower is climbed internally via 54 stone and 87 wooden steps. The total construction costs in 1894 amounted to 7,825 gold marks.
After urgent repairs in 1921, the upper wooden part burned down in 1922 due to a lightning strike. With the help of the surrounding communities and many private donors, the tower was repaired and could be climbed again on May 11, 1924. In 1950 the shell of 25,000 shingles was renewed and in 1953 ten iron strips were added to stabilize the tower. The weight of the rings was 1,650 kg. In 1963 the woodwork was given a new exterior protective coat and in 1972 the tower roof had to be completely replaced. In 1982 and 1983 the largest renovation since the tower's existence took place. The stability of the tower posed a major challenge for the Schopfheim local group of the Black Forest Association. In time for May 1, 1983, the 100th anniversary of the local group, the work was completed and the tower could be reopened. A further necessary renovation took place in 2004. When you reach its viewing platform, the tower offers a unique panoramic view at a height of over 1000m. In the immediate vicinity, views extend into the Wiesental, Rhine Valley and Wehratal as far as the Hotzenwald and the Black Forest mountains. When visibility is good you can see the panorama of the Vorgesen, the Swiss Jura and the Alpine chain.

Anyone who is not afraid of the constant climb up to the tower will be rewarded with a long, enjoyable trail descent.
