"Harbor history
The name Anse du Loch means "pond bay" in French. It is the largest natural bay in the extensive Bay of Audierne and was therefore likely a popular mooring place for local sailors for a long time. In 1894, it offered space for about thirty fishing boats. However, as it was too exposed to the rough west wind and swell, a 76-meter-long breakwater was built in 1906 to better protect the boats. This was extended in 1913 and again in 1951 and now measures 18.5 meters."
