The former monastery was founded in 1409 as Ausgustiner-Chorherren-Stift by the Nuremberg burgraves Johann III and Friedrich VI. With the secularization, the monastery itself dissolved in 1533. Catholic services were still held until the death of the last Probst in the year 1537 in the Annakapelle (today only one panel indicates the place of the chapel). This was followed by a variety of uses by margravial administrators, as Prussian barracks, school buildings. As a tenant of the Free State of Bavaria finally moved in the 1950s, the Evang.Luth. Parish with office, parish and Mesnerwohnungen in the rooms of the former monastery. Today, some areas of the former convent rooms as office, youth rooms, community hall, etc. are rented to the parish and other users.
