The glacier gate above Rickertsreute, created by the blacksmith Peter Klink from Denkingen, shows exactly the limit at which the Rhine glacier reached its maximum extent from the Deggenhauser Tal in the Ice Age around 15,000 years ago.

This work of art, located on the hiking trail of the European watershed, is intended to be symbolic: the wings symbolize the gate. The doors opened from the Deggenhauser Tal to the north (to the Malaiental) point the way of the meltwater. The debris that the glacier brought with it is represented by the impaled stones. The reference to the Ice Age is made by the snowflakes on the doors.
