Neuhaus am Rennsteig was once the highest and smallest district town in the GDR. In numbers: Neustadt lies at 830 meters in the middle of the Thuringian Forest and has about 6800 inhabitants. Incidentally, the Rennsteig is called Rennweg here if you wonder. Not only the Rennsteig leads through Neuhaus, but also the Thuringian Porcelain Route and the German Toy Street meet here.
