The museum was opened on August 14, 1994. The owner of the museum collection and the manager of the museum is Srečko Rože, who as a child was attracted by the stories of his grandfather Viktorj Rože, a surviving member of the Austro-Hungarian army in the First World War, as well as the stories of his father Albin from the time of the Second World War world wars.
