At the end of 2020, work began to drain the lake. The Breitenauer See flood retention basin must undergo an in-depth safety review. To do this, it was imperative that all of the water be drained off so that all safety-relevant systems can be examined and repaired. The lake is now almost empty and offers interesting insights.

Road cycling

The most beautiful (and only) large bathing lake in the region. In the summer, especially at the weekend break full, so that as a racing cyclist would rather make a bow around the main artery through the bathing area - if you do not want to get into the water yourself. During the bathing season, the area (and also the passage) also costs admission: You can shell out 3 euros per person.
