In order to keep the water masses under control after heavy rainfall in the Tramuntana, there are small dams at certain intervals along many streams or torrents. Since the water in them only evaporates to a limited extent, small biotopes are often created in the dams. They are also a welcome source of drinking water for the local goats in the summer months.
