Bergeijk is inextricably linked to the Utrecht architect Gerrit Rietveld and the Amsterdam Mien Ruys. In Bergeijk, Rietveld designed several unique objects in the 1950s: a clock, a bus shelter, two houses and his only industrial work: Weverij De Ploeg. This makes Bergeijk the most diverse legacy of this furniture designer and architect who was associated with the art movement 'De Stijl'.
