You won't find such an old half-timbered chapel anywhere else in northwest Germany. The Laurentiuskapelle in Nammen has stood here since 1350, but it was renovated in the 17th and 19th centuries. Nevertheless, it is an absolute gem and the local chapel association takes care of its preservation.

The Protestant Laurentius Chapel is a listed church building in Nammen, a district of Porta Westfalica in the Minden-Lübbecke district. A previous chapel had stood here since around 1350. The small half-timbered hall on a rubble stone base was built in 1523 after a dendrochronological study. It is the oldest half-timbered chapel in northwest Germany. The choir is closed on three sides.

"Today it is primarily used as a "wedding chapel" and for special services, such as always on the "third" holiday of Christmas, Easter and Pentecost. The vow made by the forefathers during a plague epidemic around 1450 is still being kept in Nammen more than five centuries later.”
