The Cranenweyer (also Cranenweijer) is located near Kerkrade and is fed by the Amstelbach (also Anstellerbeek or Anselderbeek) and several springs. It is the only reservoir in the Netherlands! That is why it is sometimes called Stuwmeer (i.e. reservoir). Directly next to the 20ha reservoir, which was built in the 1970s, there are other small ponds, all of which are collectively known as Cranenweyer. This local recreation area is now part of the "Gravenrode Park".
