In Martinau every year between mid-May and mid-June the flowering of the rare lady's slipper plant takes place. The area is one of the largest in Europe, and other larger deposits can also be found in the Gastern Valley in Switzerland. The Frauenschuh area is located in the alluvial forest near Martinau, a district of the Elmen community. The hike to the Frauenschuhblüte begins at the bridge in Vorderhornbach. In the alluvial forest is the field with hundreds of blooming lady's slipper plants. The lady's slipper is a rare and protected plant, so you should only follow the marked paths to allow future generations to see this rare event.
