In wonderful summer weather, the beautiful, wide square, measuring approximately 120x100 meters, appears closed and harmonious even during the day: in the middle there is a statue (from 1831) of King Stanislaus, at the mouths of the streets the blacksmith Jean Lamour has gilded huge ones Rococo grilles installed in 1751-60, fountains gush at 2 corners. The square was designed by Stanislas and his congenial architect Heré, other squares followed and connected the old town with the later new town.
The town hall, opera and the art museum border the sides. And of course there is also the city information, where you can get city maps. Here, too, a train with an audio guide runs through the city every hour; you can choose the language of the explanations.
But the square turns into magical life in the summer nights when it fills with people.

Place Stanislas is a World Heritage Site – and rightly so. With its even, closed complex of baroque, castle-like magnificent buildings and the fountains in the corners, it is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. Definitely worth seeing.
