Already at the time of the monastery there was a St. George chapel at the same location - in today's town center, outside the monastery walls (first mentioned in a document in 1471).
Every year processions took place on the patronage festival (April 23).
The current building with a small roof turret and bell was built in 1870 - now as the Marienkapelle - on the foundations of this forerunner. Inside there is a statue of the Virgin Mary with a child.
The chapel can also be found in the local coat of arms of Mariaroth.
