Farmers from Huntorf, today Altenhuntorf, laid Neuenhunturf on the Huntsdeich in the 15th century to avoid the tithe of the St. Paul monastery in Bremen, but this did not succeed. In 1441 the place was called Nyenhuntorpe. After the Reformation, the monastery's possessions were converted into a Count's Vorwerk, which was sold in 1657 to the Münnich family, who were later ennobled.
