At the time of the "Cold War", the approximately 5-acre site of the Wiehenhorst was used as a fire control area for anti-aircraft missiles by Dutch air defense units from 1966 to 1975 as part of the NATO strategy and NATO air defense belt. The bridge was used to set up the portable radar wagon for enemy aircraft detection and missile guidance. Since the highest elevation in the intended area was the 195 meter high Westerberg, it was decided to build the fire control station - Integrated Fire Control (IFC) there. However, because other higher mountains were located to the east and south, constructed with great structural effort, a bridge ramp for parking the radar and reached an additional height of another 10 meters. From then on, the equipment could be towed and positioned on its chassis over a sweeping driveway to their stands. In order to prevent a mutual obstruction of the devices when maneuvering, various bulges and niches were erected on top of the platform. In the substructure of the reinforced concrete structure integrated the standby building of the position.

In the middle of the forest you come across an abandoned FLAG position. Somewhat scary, this place is certainly one of the lost places. Looks very interesting.
