Makarska is a port city on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. It is known for the Makarska Riviera beaches, seaside promenade and night life. Kačić Square forms the center of the old town, which is located on a small bay between wooded headlands. Ferries connect the city with the nearby island of Brač. In the east rises the rugged Biokovo Mountains - a nature reserve and home of the golden eagle and the Balkan chamois.
