The "Ponte Romano di Solestà" is an arched bridge of Roman origin in Ascoli Piceno, which spans the Tronto River at a height of 25 meters. Over this bridge, which was built in 25 BC. And the city gate "Porta Solesta" leads to the old district of San Giacomo. The bridge, of which it is not known who built it, has an arch span of 25m and is 52m long. From here you have a very nice view of the Trontotal, the surrounding area and, after crossing the valley, of the district of San Giacomo - a visit is unreservedly recommended and almost a must.

It is incredible to think that a bridge built only with dry stone about 2,000 years ago can still today, with very slight adjustments of concrete on the roadway, accommodate the continuous transit even of motorized vehicles weighing a few tons. Furthermore, it was not in the least scratched by the terrible earthquake in central Italy that devastated the nearby L'Aquila.
