The Ostsee-Molkerei Wismar is a traditional name in the German dairy industry, even though it is now part of a global dairy giant. It is primarily known for cheese production and is an important economic factor in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania region. Since 2011, the dairy in Wismar has officially belonged to Arla Foods, one of the largest dairy cooperatives in the world. Previously, it was part of Hansa-Milch AG. Through integration into the Arla network, the site was modernized and specialized in the production of export goods.
