The former degaussing station of the NVA near Lauterbach is located in the Greifswalder Bodden, south of Rügen, almost three kilometers east of the island of Vilm (latitude: 54°19'31"N longitude: 13°35'22"E). The approximately 700 m² platform was founded on approx. 600 wooden piles in a water depth of around 10 m.
