It's a bit of a search, as it's barely visible from the shore: the jetty that once served as a landing pad for seaplanes. That's why it's so high. The jetty was part of the former Società Idrovolanti Alta Italia seaplane base, founded in 1915.
Here, Savoia-Marchetti manufactured seaplanes, the most famous of which was the Savoia-Marchetti S.55. This aircraft made transatlantic flights in 1930, 1931, and 1933. Only one example remains, and it's in a museum in Brazil.
