‘A real gem from the 18th century; this building is one of the hundred most important monuments in the Netherlands.' The City Hall is still used as a city hall, with the Gemeentemuseum on the top floor. ‘What is special about this museum is that you learn a lot about the history of Weesp, but there is also an enormous collection of Weesper porcelain on display; the first porcelain in the Netherlands. That was only produced for a very short time in the 18th century, which makes it incredibly expensive now.' Museum Weesp is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 to 17:00.

The Museum Weesp was originally founded in 1911 as an antiques cabinet. Items related to the history of Weesp, such as the town's silver, paintings and engravings, are on display in this antiques cabinet. In 1928 a tureen with lemons on the lid was purchased. Gradually, the Oudheidskamer developed into a museum through various donations and purchases. (museumweesp.nl)
