The castle is considered one of the most beautiful castles in the world due to its unique composition of buildings and the repeatedly expanded park in both summer and winter. The construction of the palace goes back to Elector Ferdinand Maria, who acquired the Kemnaten Schweige for 10,000 guilders, a very high sum at the time, when his wife Henriette Adelaide of Savoy finally gave birth to the long-awaited heir to the throne, Max Emanuel.

In 1663, the Elector commissioned the architect from her Italian homeland Agostino Barelli to build a Villa Suburbana. The central building is the oldest part of the castle. An engraving by Michael Wening from 1700 shows the still small castle with a small garden behind it. The construction of the castle was largely completed in the middle of the 18th century. The pictures by the landscape painter Bernardo BellottoW called Canaletto, which can be seen in the Munich Residenz, bear witness to the splendor of the castle in 1761.

Worth a visit in every season. Only walking and jogging are allowed in the park, but you can always discover new paths even after visiting the park several times and adapt your running route to suit your daily routine. The castle grounds are particularly suitable if you get visitors from outside and you want to show one of the most beautiful places in Munich.
