During the Thirty Years' War the church building was badly damaged and had to be rebuilt, at least in part. Another new building was built in 1731-34. With the dissolution of the monastery in 1806, the parish became independent.
In January 1843 the tower burned down and had to be rebuilt. In June 1857 the entire church with large parts of the inner city burned down. The construction started again immediately.
During the so-called Kulturkampf from around 1875 and until 1912, the church was used by the Old Catholics. The town church did not have to undergo renovation until 1968. In 2001, renovation measures were carried out on the tower and nave of the listed church building.
