The Giant Buddha is massively impressive. 71m in height and carved out of the rock over 1000 years ago. Rightfully a UNESCO World Heritage.
When entering the tourist area you start climbing stairs immediately and end up next to the Buddhas head. If you want to climb down again to see his feet and look up onto the 71m high statue, then prepare for a long wait. Stairs down are steep and narrow and queues are long. I was there on a ‚quiet‘ day and it took me an hour to get from the top to the bottom.
