The open-air museum was built in 1909 and 1910 from two former half-timbered houses.
The Association for Local History would like to show people how people lived 300 years ago. The 17 houses and outbuildings integrate perfectly into the spa park, the heart of which is the farmhouse with an open fireplace.
Behind every building there is a story and, above all, an important benefit for the people 300 years ago.
The premises are still in use today. The Spieker restaurant still serves traditional, regional and Ammerland food.
In the old farmhouse, ham is still smoked like in old times, but the fireplace is extinguished for visits.
You can take tours in season (April - September) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., in October from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from November to March there are only tours by appointment.
