for information from the net:The Museum of Straw Processing in Twistringen (Diepholz district, Lower Saxony) is a privately owned regional museum (sponsoring association). Since 1996 it has been both a regional and a special museum for straw processing and is therefore unique in Germany. The history and development of the straw industry from its beginnings to the present is documented. In 1992 the "Förderverein Museum der Strohverarbeitung Twistringen e.V." was founded. Then the museum was built up bit by bit: Acquisition and expansion of a barn, acquisition of machines, tools and accessories for straw processing, development of a museum concept. In a former barn, historical machines, devices, work accessories and other testimonials from the former straw processing companies in Twistringen are on display on 850 m² of exhibition space. A reconstructed home workplace can also be seen. Guests can be entertained in the museum hall.300 years of straw processing in Twistringen are documented. The structural change that has occurred especially since the 1960s becomes clear. The focus of the exhibition is the - especially historical - production of hats, drinking straws, woven straw, malottes (sheathing for bottles), docks and mats made of straw. Social aspects (home and child labor) are also discussed. In addition, the Straw Museum offers special promotions throughout the year. Since 2007 fossils from the area have been exhibited in the special exhibition "fossilia twistringensia".Around 40 voluntary helpers - including the voluntary museum director - take care of the further expansion of the museum and the care and hospitality of the visitors.Office hours (also during "Corona times")

A very nice museum with hands-on stations. The prices are super cheap: children up to 16 free, students €1 and adults €3.
you should bring enough time to discover everything and there is a lot to learn about the straw and to marvel at the impressive works of art.
