On the Brenner Pass, one of the major points of contact between Italy and Central European nations, this stone marks the Italian-Austrian border. The memorial stone was inaugurated in October 1921 in the presence of the then King of Italy Vittorio Emanuele III, his wife Elena and some delegations. It bore the words: «Up to here, mother Rome, your voice can be heard», replaced after the Second World War by geographical indications.
