The area around Walldürn was conquered by Roman troops as early as 150 AD. Walldürn, a well-known place of pilgrimage and the third-largest place of pilgrimage in Germany, shows: one of the most beautiful baroque churches in the Rhine-Main area and the historic town center, Limes educational trail, Roman baths, small fort, Roman section in the town museum (currently closed for renovation).
Walldürn is home to the UNESCO Geopark information center, which also offers numerous guided tours and activities on the subject of "Roman monuments".
