I doubt that this is a fire pond, in the middle of the forest, far from any settlement.
But the beavers are allowed to do what they naturally like to do here.
Here, trees are only put aside when the beaver has felled them.
Elsewhere, trees gnawed by the beaver are immediately removed completely, so what does the beaver do then?? That's right, he goes for the next tree, because he wants something to eat.
So we don't have a plague of beavers, but a plague of people.
