Since 2020, information panels, a boulder bearing the inscription "Groß Lieskow Liskow 1346-1983," a shelter, and a town sign have commemorated the village of Groß Lieskow, which was partially demolished in 1976/1977 and completely excavated in 1983/84 for the Cottbus-Nord opencast mine (operating from 1975 to 2015), and the 255 relocated residents. The memorial site is located approximately 1.5 km north of the former village site.On June 8, 2013, the 16th Day of the Excavated Sorbian Villages, a memorial site with information panels, a memorial stone, a shelter, and a linden tree was inaugurated on the former territory of Groß Lieskow. However, due to bank protection measures (vibration track), it had to be relocated to its current location, along the circular path of the future Baltic Sea.
Another memorial site in Bärenbrück commemorates Groß Lieskow (object no. 32000682).

Nicely designed place with a very interesting display board about the place Groß Lieskow, which had to give way to the open pit in 1983.
