Heessen Castle is a palace complex located on the lip in the Heessen district of Hammer and the most famous knight's seat in the area of today's city of Hamm. The typical features of a large Westphalian moated castle have been preserved in the architectural complex. Between the river and the Lippe, the castle and the buildings of the outer bailey face each other in an elongated oval. The three-winged main building is made of brick over the remains of centuries-old castle walls made of limestone and, as the most striking component, has a tower, the two gables of which rise over 30 meters.
